Peter Senior has come agonizingly clost to winning the Handa Australian Seniors Open, losing in a playoff to Australia's Mike Harwood.Peter Senior led by four shots overnight and quickly extended that to five shots over playing partners Michael Clayton and Michael Harwood heading into the back nine.
A bogey at the11th and 15th plus a double bogey at 14 by Senior meant the three players were all tied on five-under-par with three holes of regulation play. Senior made birdie to again take the outright lead but could only manage par on the final hole and watched as both Harwood and Clayton rolled in birdies to force the Senior Open Championship into a sudden death play-off.
On the first play-off hole, both Senior and Clayton narrowly missed their birdie chances, before Harwood holed a 6-foot birdie putt to secure the National Senior Open title.
